Things may seem 'dark', but it's nowhere near the kind of darkness and oppression that's possible and that some beings in the universe experience. I'm not saying that to scare anyone -- just so people can keep in mind that there's a lot less for humanity to bounce back from than what's possible. I think one interesting feature is that it's so much on the cusp of what you'd consider darkness that it's harder to notice and not so much "in your face" for most people than some horrible suffering for millions of years that could be immagine as possible in some reality. That's why a lot of humanity is "on the fence". However, things are getting more in the face lately.
