As a child one of my favorite things to do was to turn down the lights, grab a fluffy blanket and cuddle with my daddy on the couch as we both took a nap. Resting in the arms of my father I felt safe, loved and nurtured. Today I have that same opportunity, with my heavenly father. For those of you who did not have a healthy relationship with your Dad, your Heavenly Father is there for you.
In a world that is so overcommitted to doing, staying connected, and nonstop chatter I have to make a concious commitment to rest in the arms of my beloved Creator. As the fullness of life expands so does my need for the fullness of his rest. I am reminded that I am a human being not human doing. When the busyness of life becomes overwhelming, there is an infinite well of renewing living water. Here I can rest by the still waters of his majesty. Here I become overwhelmed His love.
And moment by moment I remember that I can to be refreshed, before I am overwhelmed, simply because I love myself and the Lord enough to relax in the stillness in his presence.
Come to me who are weary and I shall give you rest for my burdens are light and my yoke is easy. Matthew 11:28
This is an invitation that I humbly and joyfully accept. Resting in the arms of my heavenly father I am enveloped in love, wrapped In grace & filled with peace in a way that I cannot achieve alone. I am renewed, restored, and rejuvenated. The acronym for REST reawakens me to the gifts that come from consciously choosing to enjoy moments of stillness.
R retreat into silence
E enter into prayer
S surrender to his love
T trust in his grace
Whatever it is you are experiencing in your life, resting in the peace of God 's presence will give you clarity to move through life with greater ease, open you up to the gifts alive in this present moment and enrich your life in more ways than you can ever imagine.
May you and your loved ones be blessed.
