How to Watch the Celestine Prophecy Movie
By James Redfield

If you are like millions of us out there, your investigation of your inner spirituality began with books and scriptures and other descriptions of the spiritual life. Yet what you already know somewhere inside you  and what I believe will be looked upon as the grand insight of our time  is that spirituality is first and foremost a set of elusive and transcendent experiences.

Descriptions are important, and we can look back and appreciate thousands of key testimonies by the mystics of every religion. (Ed. Note: See God and the Evolving Universe, J. Redfield et al.) They after all get our attention, open the door of interest, and tell us what to expect. They take us to the brink, one might say, but in the end we all have to walk though the door ourselves, and open up personally to the real thing.

When we contemplated how to make the Celestine Prophecy Movie, we knew we wanted to show as much of this direct experience as possible in the way only live action cinema can do. In movies, one can not only show emotional looks and reactions in real life situations, one can also to some degree show how characters learn to see the world differently in our case, how their actual perception changes as a result of a deeper spiritual awareness they've discovered.

You'll notice right away that this movie is different. View it as a typical adventure and you'll see it all at one level, but begin to feel it, first with the music, and by grasping what the characters are sensing intuitively, and you'll see what I mean. It's one thing to go on a search for a lost scroll. It's quite another to perceive a whole set of enhanced perceptions and intuitive ability that comes from a deeper spiritual consciousness.

If you believe we need a new world view, one that cherishes our best spiritual traditions  but at the same time takes them to a deeper level we believe this movie is for you.

Re: The Celestine Prophecy Movie

I am very excited to watch this movie. I enjoyed the book series. It seems that now is the time for a new wave of spiritual movies. Peaceful Warrior, Conversations with God, and What the Bleep are displaying
a new consciousness to a wider audience. I am excited.

I'm so excited too! I loved the books very much and they were the books I started my spiritual journey with ...so I have a special love for them..they gave me so much! Is beautiful to see how things are rapidly changing, isn't it?

is amazing how we reached the 'famous' critical mass and now more people will find available these informations....

Have you seen Peaceful Warrior and Conversations with God? Would you like to write for us a little review? :)

I haven't seen them yet and would like to know how people find them!

looking forward to see all of them! too! :crazy2

Hi Mariu,
I have not seen them yet either. I am ready for them to come out on DVD. I live in rural Oklahoma so there is not much demand for them to come to the theater yet. I do subscribe to the Spiritual Cinema Circle which sends monthly movies (usually 2 or 3 shorts, one documentary, and one full length movie) on DVD that have powerful messages to inspire.

Re: The Celestine Prophecy Movie

Hi Jason,

Great to have you on here :)

We are in Italy so there is even less chance of it coming to the theater - i really liked that the secret was viewable online. I think this is really the future for spiritual related films (among others) as there is a worldwide audience itching to see them!

I noticed you said you subscribe to the Spiritual Cinema Circle?

I have been looking at that this week with interest, with a view to include a write up and possibly using their affiliate system as a way to raise funds for the continuing development of Spirit Library.

I've received a list from them of all the films so far, but after a quick browse not many were familiar to me.

So, how do you find the selection / quality of the films? and does the subscription represent good value ?

with love

Ben

Re: The Celestine Prophecy Movie

Hi Ben,
I believe that most of their films are independent films and thus not shown at major theaters. Their films deal with topics such as death, compassion, judgement, imperfection, wisdom, and cause and effect. Many are not "spiritual" in the sense of out and out using terms such as karma, reincarnation, and other terms, but are more subtle in their message. For example two of the documentarys that I have watched: one was about a woman traveling to Russia visiting local healers in the small rural villages and how her skepticism crumbled as the women did a reading for her. Another was about an African American woman who is known for making her sweet potato pie at a retirement community. Both of them were moving. Some of the movies are in English, others are in other languages and subtitled in English. I love them. They come with reflection questions for after the movie. In fact, I am thinking about forming a local circle to watch these and for discussion.

I hope this helps,
J

Yes that does help - thanks Jason ;)

I might write an article about it for Spirit Library in the next week or two.

Re: The Celestine Prophecy Movie

Hi y'all,

I just watched The Celestine Prophecy today. It started out a bit slow and tough to follow but then quickly picked up speed and took on the beauty of the book. They made some slight adaptations changing what happened in the book, but it only made the movie better. This was well worth the money.

On another note, about the Spiritual Cinema Circle-their main movie this month was The Secret. LOL and next month it is Conversations with God. I am very excited about that.

I hope you all had a blessed Christmas.

We saw the Celestine Prophecy recently, and I really enjoyed it too. Its quite a few years since i read the book so my it took a while to be reminded of how the original story was.

The book was a really important one for me to read right at the start of my spiritual journey, so i'll be interested in how the film is received by people who have never read the book!
