“The mind cannot deactivate itself. It can only happen by grace”. Kalki Bhagavan
Divine Grace refers to the Divine’s power of loving kindness by which we as souls awaken to our inner divine nature. Regardless of any of our actions, Divine Grace descends as our power to meditate, pray, the spiritual urge, which drives us to know our inner nature, or an awakening of love for the Divine. Divine Grace ever flows as love and compassion.
When our souls and minds reach a certain level of maturity, Grace can enter our lives through a spiritual initiation, shaktipat, from a spiritual teacher, which confers a spiritual power or awakening. This transmission comes through a sacred word, a look, a thought or by touch. We, however, have the choice to accept the grace given or reject it.
In my life, I have experienced five forms of shaktipat. Two transferred through sacred words and three through touch. These occurred over a period of thirty-five years. I now receive regular shaktipat from my wife who attended two levels at the Oneness University in order to give Oneness Blessings to others.
The most profound shaktipat descended through the Grace of Sai Baba when I visited his ashram in India in December of 1990. Sai Baba’s ashram called the “abode of highest peace” attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, from all over the world. Twice daily Sathya Sai Baba in his flowing orange robe treads barefoot, amongst thousands of eager seekers, bestowing blessings through outstretched arms and uplifted hands. Sai Baba radiates Divine Light, which assists in purifying our suffering if we open and allow the Grace.
“More than listening to a hundred lectures or delivering them to others, offering one act as genuine service attracts the Grace of God”. Sathya Sai Baba
Millions of people around the world accept Sathya Sai Baba as an Avatar, an incarnation of Divinity in human form, like Krishna, Buddha, and Jesus. By our touching His lotus feet or His touching us, there is a descent of divine energy, shaktipat.
Within the first week of my arrival, I got the rare opportunity to sit in the first row after Sai Baba’s first round of morning blessings. Positioned cross-legged, in meditation, on the hard concrete I opened my eyes to see Sai Baba’s small frame emerging from his temple to give a second blessing. He glided to the right of the first row where I sat. Floating closer his orange robed figure alighted directly in front of me. Realizing this gesture, as granting permission to touch his feet, I bowed my head to the gritty concrete. My mind blank I raised my hands to rest upon his warm insteps. Seconds later as I lifted my hands off his feet Sai Baba wordlessly slipped away to my left. On impulse, I touched the ground, which Sai Baba’s feet had just vacated. The concrete tingled and vibrated as though it had a life of its own as Sai Baba’s spiritual presence lingered, transmitted to the rock.
One of Sai Baba’s divine powers manifests as healing touch or shaktipat. His Grace allowed me to touch his lotus feet. At the time little did I realize the power of the sacred transmission.
Upon my return to Los Angeles, in spite of a decade of constant inner healing, I experienced a few months of deep emotional releasing. Sai Baba’s activation of increased spiritual Light, within me, brought to the surface emotional agonies, which I had unconsciously harbored all my life. This rapid cleansing of emotional poisons included painful boils breaking out upon my body.
For a few months, my buttocks and fingers broke out. My body exuded poisons from every cell, tendencies towards congestion of the heart and inflammation of the joints of the hands, arms, legs, and hips released. Without the grace of Sai Baba, I intuitively know this purification would have taken at least an additional ten years.
After my own intense purification, the gift of healing touch buried within me surfaced. “My burning Love touches the hearts of incarnate people and ignites the souls. One has to bring people to the threshold where they come in touch with Me. “If a soul, after touching Me, continues to shine for others — then this is the true burning”. Sai Baba
In reference to healing, Choa Kok Sui speaks of a higher form of Divine Light healing in his book, “Advanced Pranic Healing”. He talks of Divine energy sent down from the Holy Ones, Spiritual Masters, and Archangels, through the soul of the healer either into the soul of the client or into their etheric and physical bodies. A flood of electric-violet or brilliant white light, according to Sui, rapidly cleanses and energizes the entire body of the client. He speaks of this Divine energy as having a consciousness of its own, knowing where to go and what to do.
As healers, do we offer ourselves as a vehicle for the Grace of God to flow through us and into the client? Also through prayer or distant healing, can we allow ourselves to be an open channel for the healing Grace to move through us for the clients’ physical, emotional, or spiritual benefit?
I earlier said, when our souls and minds reach a certain level of maturity, Grace can enter our lives through a spiritual initiation, shaktipat. In 1989, however, a new form of Divine Grace en-tered the planet. In July 1989, a Golden Ball of Divine Grace descended into many children of the Ashram School founded by Sri Amma & Bhagavan in India. A Deeksha or Oneness Blessing impregnated the consciousness of these children from the Divine Grace. The Oneness Blessing facilitates the descent of the Golden Ball, which activates a neurobiological shift in the brain, which silences the endless chatter of our minds. This Divine Grace can set us free of suffering. This Divine Grace can eventually awaken us to a conscious state of Oneness with all life. Also, see the Oneness Blessing interview with Arjuna Ardagh. According to Arjuna as of the October 2007, over tens of millions of people have received the Oneness Blessing. On August 17, 2003, Amma’s birthday, Bhagavan give the first public Oneness Blessings. http://www.experiencefestival.com/forum/news/article/35/the-oneness-bles...
Another form of Divine Grace entered the Earth on July 17, 2008 known as “Grace Light” through Siva Baba, a mystic, from India who currently lives in the U.S. The Grace Light expands our capacity to hold more light and dissolve our suffering. We can receive the Grace Light empowerment through public blessings or through a 40-minute streaming video. Click on link for more info: http://www.thegracelight.com/empowerment.html
“I have incarnated innumerable times as a saint or sage in nearly every religion to be a conduit for Grace Light to relieve the suffering of humanity. Even so, I am only one conduit to receive and spread the light. Who is going to transmit it? Every single person who receives it will also be capable of transmitting it”. Siva Baba
P.S. Email examples of your own experiences with Divine Grace & how it eased suffering. I am rewriting a book "Ten Amazing Stations to Grace" & will include more examples.
