In my talks I quite often explain how we catch emotion from people. It’s facilitated by an interconnected network of brain cells known as the mirror neuron system. If you’re with someone who is happy, your brain actually mirrors the activity of their smile muscles signaling your muscles to do the same.
I’m heading back to Miraval in a little over a week to teach my last retreat with Louise Hay. As I was going through my files preparing for our time together, I found notes from our first retreat. They represent the simple wisdom Louise has lived by – wisdom I’ve been applying to my own life with great success. I hope you’ll use them, too!
There is much speculation and anticipation about the advent of the winter solstice on December 21, 2012. This is the date that the Mayan calendar ends and their prediction of the 2012 Galactic Alignment phenomenon, which happens every 25,800 years or so. Some say this represents an opportunity or gateway for the re-birthing of humanity and our planet if we can come together and realize the strength of our collective unity.
It’s been quite a week here in the states. My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy in Newtown, CT. Whether you’ve lost a family member or friend, live in the community where the crime occurred, or feel deeply saddened for those who are suffering, it’s important to take extra good care of yourself during this time.

They were sitting close by and, while I was doing my best to mind my own business, I couldn’t help but notice how much time and energy they were investing in the problem.
I don’t know about you, but I woke up on Monday morning of this week feeling quite sad. The Olympics finished on Sunday and I think it just affected me on a very deep level. Among other things, it was really refreshing for the TV to be filled with positivity, dedication, passion, and achievement instead of being saturated with conflict, negativity or instant celebrity.
I think I’ve been really quite intuitive lately – from making the right choices to even guessing (to the second) when the oven timer was going to beep – so I decided to share what I knew about intuition, how it works, even why we have it. There seems to be different types of intuition, or at least 3 different mechanisms regarding how it works. Here’s the 3 that I’m aware of
