We are not paying enough attention to our health. Not as individuals, and certainly not as a planet. This is the single most important factor in our physical lives, and most of us are simply not paying enough attention to it.
I’m sitting here in my office, bathed in the cool light of winter. The winds are howling outside, lifting the powdery snow high in the air. Now and then I swear I see a dancing, white fairy, but she quickly disappears with the next strong gust.
Yesterday, after a long walk on a cold, windy day here in Toronto, I did something kind for myself. I was sitting in my hotel room, answering email and finishing up some work, when I looked over at the end of the bed and noticed the sun had cast a pool of light across the comforter.
It is not for you to fight against life. It is for you to work with life. Life is not out to get you. Life is out to soar with you. Even with little matters, go along with life. When you feel sleepy, sleep.
I’m heading back to Miraval in a little over a week to teach my last retreat with Louise Hay. As I was going through my files preparing for our time together, I found notes from our first retreat. It’s been quite a week here in the states. My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy in Newtown, CT. Whether you’ve lost a family member or friend, live in the community where the crime occurred, or feel deeply saddened for those who are suffering, it’s important to take extra good care of yourself during this time.
