Solstice means "sun stands still" and appropriately describes how the winter (and summer) solstice sun appears to hang on the day's horizon, as if something has halted its progress across the heavens. For three days it remains virtually unchanged until finally its movement is visible. It is reborn and its journey begins anew.
Winter Solstice is the birth of the new solar year and is symbolized by the dark, or midnight sun. The midnight solstice aligns the world of humanity with the world of the eternal, joining both in a sacred union that repeats each year at the same time.

The December Solstice, 2011 and the New Year, 2012 will arrive with energies that are intense and sometimes chaotic. They will unfold quickly toward the March Equinox, and then continue throughout the year. Our advice for now is to expect the unexpected, but to fear nothing. Agitation will be common in the coming year, but you are reminded to remain calm.
2011 was a practice run for what we will now all greet in 2012… if you have become proficient in the new energies, then you shall fare well in these next moons and months, which promise to be historically monumental. Just think, 2012. Collectively so much fear has been instilled into the mass consciousness that humanity can’t help but create a few disaster scenarios. Here we are again...lined up with the Galactic Sun (Source), as we were 26,000 years ago. Many of us were there then too...in Atlantis and Lemuria (Mu). This time we are much more aware and conscious, so our success is ensured...for ascension.
