Step into the New....Literally

For the last year or two, particularly since the beginning of our new cycle, a lot of us have felt a strange sense of being in limbo, like we’re floating in a void between the old and the new. So much of who we used to be no longer feels right, or fits exactly as it used to. I was thinking of this the other day, and received the message that it’s like when ghosts don’t realise they are ‘dead’ to their old life. They are confused, and for a time can get stuck in between worlds. To move on, they need to see the Light and step through it, so that they can get on with their life in some other place and space.

We may not have died physically, but we have died to huge parts of ourselves. We have died to great chunks of our old identities, missions, purposes, and karmic contracts. We have died to much of our old wounds, patterns, beliefs, and ways of being. They just don’t and won’t work anymore. We are like snakes that have slid out of their skins. Some of us try to crawl back into the old, others hang around the remains of the burning building knowing we can’t go back in, but having no clue as to where to go next. This 'death' has resulted in all kinds of grief, depression, frustration and confusion. For some a lot has physically changed, but for others it hasn't been the kind of death we can tangibly put our finger on, and that has made it all the more difficult to understand and deal with.

This shift is happening on all levels and layers. For some this means major changes to significant areas of your life. For others, the change will be more internal – yet, this also can’t help but impact the external in some way. Even if we are in the right job or relationship, we still might feel ‘squirmy’ and be wondering why? It is because our Soul is wriggling out of her or his old skin. For some, yes, as you wriggle out of the old skin, you will wriggle out of old relationships, jobs or geographical locations that are no longer a right fit for you. For others, those aspects of your life are a right fit, but your former inner wiring around how you have related to those aspects are no longer a fit. Maybe your work is right, but you are wanting a healthier work/family balance. Or you want to move into a more creative or prosperous direction with it. Maybe your relationship is right, but your old way of expressing your inner masculine and feminine is changing thus changing the dynamic between you, helping you both be better, more balanced versions of yourselves.

Many relationships are being called (forced) to grow, as one partner sheds their skin and moves into a new version of themselves, the other partner eventually has to do the same or they will no longer be able to relate to each other in a harmonious way.

Our souls are calling for greater balance, more heart, and total authenticity with everything we do and that can’t help but shift, well, everything.

If you have been feeling like you are in the void, an exercise you can try is: close your eyes and feel the emotional space that you have been in that you would now like to move on from. See that your new life is right before you, but like those ghosts, we just haven’t realised. Your higher vibrational self is right there in front of you, waiting for you to step into more of YOU, waiting for you to embody more of YOU, waiting for you to realise that this is, and always has been, the YOU that you have been waiting for. Take a step forward, with the conscious intention that you are stepping forward into your new life and self, out of your old skin. Literally, not in meditation, but physically, with your two feet on the ground…step…step…into the new. Open your eyes. How do you feel?

Dana, this is so RIGHT ON! And as always, thank you for helping me realize I'm not the only one feeling this way. "Limbo" and "please get me off the roller coaster!" have been common themes the last 3 months for me. Here's to not being afraid of the NEW! Have a wonderful weekend!

This feels right to me. Right now I am in a holding pattern as my boyfriend/partner of almost 24 years is ill. It's unknown if he will survive this illness. I am on the countdown to retire with max of 3.5 years left. Everything I thought my life would be like is now under the shadow of his illness. I have never been one to comfortably sit on the fence but I am learning some much needed patience. I had planned trips, big, small, near future and further in the future, in tis now doubtful that I will ever get to take them. So what then am I supposed to do with the rest of my life. At 63 I feel the time trickling down on this life and don't want to waste a moment. I know in my head that love heals all things and that everything come in its own time but can not help but feel the disappointment, resentment and confusion at these unplanned life changes.

Dear Kajo,

My thoughts are with you at this uncertain time. Those are very human, understandable feelings to have when life throws you an unexpected curve ball. I've learned that during these kinds of experiences, it's a very one step at a time process as you truly can't know what the coming weeks or months will bring - very challenging when wanting to plan ahead. As you said, use every moment in the best way you can, and sometimes that just means sitting in love with one another. Continue to dream your dreams, yet 'with a relaxed rope' is the specific term that just came to mind.

Love Dana
