Creating a New Story Meditation

This is a practice I have been working on. This meditation helps to change and recreate your memories. We all have a story to tell. The story we tell comes from memories past. Some memories feel good and we us want to stay there, while others memories don't feel good and affect our lives in many ways. How they affect us depends on how deep the memory penetrates our emotional experience.

With any story, there will always be two different versions. The one you remember and what actually happened. However most people remember events and words by their personal translation.

Example: I always thought I was an intelligent person, but I was wrong. In second and third grade, my report card said different. It allowed me to think what was going on in my life as to why my report card was not a reflection of who I thought to be.

This example helped me to fish my memories and fill in the gaps of my life. What was found was not so pleasant. After listen to a few Spiritual Teachers, about this subject I wanted to try it.

Meditation:

Sit with yourself, quietly and comfortably.
Ask yourself what is your most troubling memory.
Replay it over in your mind as you remember.
Sit with it for as long as is needed.
Feel the accompanying emotions.
What would you tell yourself to do differently?
Then visualize the outcome you desire.
Once the image is clear to you, replay the memory with the new outcome for as long as it needed.
Now you have changed the past. You are now a time traveler.

Happy New Year Hillis! What a "coincidence". Because really, there are no coincidences! :)

Lately, when I've been thinking of something negative from the past, I say in my mind, "Back in time!" I imagine a different outcome. I hadn't been meditating, but I'm going to use your meditation technique.

Thank you for this Hillis! It completely validates what I had been doing.

All the very best,

Conni

Thank you for this post. This is an excellent technique often used in Hypnotherapy, as well. It's excellent for changing the cellular, physical and energetic structures that hold the 'results or effects of' experiences. So whether or not different versions 'happened' in the time continuum, past present or future, the present body will have new information 'to go on'-a reference point for a different experience. It's amazing how meditation, hypnotherapy and related tools give us the experience of timelessness, to create new experiences and potentials that have lasting impact on physical reality within linear time!
Cheers and have a beauty filled day!

Hello Jambo,
That is exactly it! No matter the form in it's undertaking, the result is the same.
Thank you for your insight!

Love to you,
Hillis
