Ascension Into A New State of Being: September's Libran New Moon On The Super Galactic Center

It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. Charles Darwin

All that is human must retrograde if it does not advance. Edward Gibbon

Postmodernism represents a moment of suspension before the batteries are recharged for the new millennium, an acknowledgment that preceding the future is a strange and hybrid interregnum that might be called the last gasp of the past. Gilbert Adair

A culture is not an abstract thing. It is a living, evolving process. The aim is to push beyond standard-setting and asserting human rights to make those standards a living reality for people everywhere. Mary Robinson

There is nothing more innately human than the tendency to transmute what has become customary into what has been divinely ordained. Suzanne La Follette

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one. John Lennon

September's new Moon is a promising one of change, resurrection, hope, love and new beginnings. Falling a day after the spring/autumn equinox, we have an extraordinary line-up of Symbols on this new Moon that feel very positive, while giving us a bit of prompt to take on the challenge to lift our game, to rise above any problems, to feel a sense of 'ascension' happening in our lives. The basic thrust of this new Moon is the distinct possibility of getting one's mojo back. The stuck becomes unstuck and synchronicities and magical moments arise continually, as this new Moon is very much about taking a leap forward. Some will be baby steps and some will be great strides towards your objectives. In the lead up to the new Moon, many may be feeling a sense of disillusionment, especially as Mars and Neptune are squaring off against each other. This energy can bring all kinds of illusions and false impressions and many may feel like hitting the bottle, smoking more, getting high continuously or indulge in other types of escapist things in order to cope. (I am only half kidding ! :) )

Further, we are being bombarded by the talk of war. For my own part, I see the need in myself to 'rise above it' - to see it for the theatre that it so obviously is and to be thankful for my position in life. This is very much what this new Moon is about - letting go of the pain and hurt and angst - a lot of which is whipped up in the media.

In amongst all that's going on in the world, we are being asked - or, indeed, challenged - to let go of the past in so many ways. We are already experiencing the energy, but it will get stronger; Uranus and the Moon's south node will be doing a dance together in the early part of next year - New Year's Resolutions anyone? :) The south node is said to be a rather karmic point that brings up issues to do with the past, I think that all planets are 'karmic points', but the south node does contain many clues to our past. I feel that this new Moon is pushing us in that direction - the direction of severing things that just aren't working for us any more. Getting rid of 'karmic dross' is how that feels - cleaning out your garage, storage shed, cupboards, minds, hearts, list of friends, those you long for but aren't coming back. Does that resonate with you?

Occurring on September 24, this Libran new Moon is a really fabulous time to tap into possibilities and energies that can lead us forward - and there could be things unfolding bigger and better than we may even have imagined possible. As many are no doubt aware, the new and full moon energies for the last several years, it seems, have been somewhat interesting and rather challenging - to put it mildly. This coming new Moon holds significant rewards as it falls smack on the Super Galactic Center - which is a very powerful thing, and, there's a lot of fabulous energy contained in the Symbolism inherent in the placements of the planets.

Just as with the Sagittarian Galactic Center at Sagittarius 28, the Super Galactic Center in early Libra is said to even more deeply connect us in a direct line with 'the mind of God'. Whether we see God as a mythical being, or in religious terms or as a direct representation of our 'higher self', this area of the zodiac is a portal into those things that we see as the Law Of Attraction. Our thoughts are very powerful, and especially so when something is accenting the degrees from Virgo 30 right through to around Libra 6. And the Sabian Symbols are all very revealing around this. Please note that the influences of the new Moon do not suddenly wane soon after it occurs - the energies can stay around for weeks or months, depending on your individual circumstances - what's going on in your life and what's going on in your chart.

Perhaps take a moment out to consult the Oracle - take a moment for your heart and mind to sift through what messages you receive. Click here...

The new Moon is on Libra 2: The Light Of The Sixth Race Transmuted To The Seventh. The following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom.

The ‘Light of the Sixth Race’ is seen ‘Transmuted to the Seventh’. This can be a time of new beginnings - the implementation of a whole new order. A feeling of ascension is present here, with people approaching an entirely new level of living and operating. There’s a need to be with or communicate with people who have shared visions and hopes for the future. The fruits of past experience can bring either light or dark to the present.

This Symbol can show a leap ahead in consciousness, so much so that the old ways of functioning and living are no longer satisfying, or even possible. Sometimes the old codes for living are actually somewhat unbearable. It’s best to respect the value of what is waning and leaving your life, and take the best qualities of your past with you. Many of the things that were important before have lost their imperative. The objectives that one wants to aim for are, or have, changed radically in the realization of this new age. Some aspects of modern society are often left behind for a higher, more “evolved” state. This Symbol often shows someone who is within reach of their ultimate potential. A “new order” needs to be implemented and the time has come. There are likely to be many who share the same aspirations as you, people who are on the same road and see the same signs. Join with those who are working at something truly worthwhile, as this will see you moving further and further towards a chosen future, rather than one that is just foisted on you by society. Regardless of this progression and ascension, there is a need to remain rooted in the reality of practicality. Otherwise, you, or someone else, may lose their way in the glamour or “fog” that these new, sometimes deeply spiritual realities can bring.

Keywords: Younger or more vital elements taking over from the elders. The fruits of the new age. Theosophy-Blavatsky’s theories. Finding kindred spirits. Sharing visions. Ascension and evolution. Inheritances that move one forward. Growing older and wiser. UFO’s and aliens. Music that lifts one’s spirits. Gurus and avatars. Demarcations of evolution. Transmutations.

The Caution: Losing touch with practical survival. Can be racial (or other) discrimination. Feeling that one is from a “higher” order, or more evolved, than other people.

Just preceeding the new Moon, on the day before, the Sun is highlighting the Karmic Condition of this new Moon - Libra 1: A Butterfly Preserved And Made Perfect With A Dart Through It. This Symbol shows a need to free one's self from situations where you might feel frozen or stuck or at an impasse.

Beauty in shape or form has been frozen in one moment, denying the natural processes of decay. An archetypal death is symbolized and perhaps a type of ‘Perfection’ is enshrined through a sacrifice. As inspiring as this process can be, it can show difficulties in shifting or moving on. This Symbol can also picture an event that is frozen in time, like something that we just can’t forget or let go of. Feelings of being stuck and immobilized, whether real or imagined, may not help at the moment. Perhaps there’s a feeling that you, or someone else, is being used for something that you don’t agree with or don’t really benefit from. A movie may be playing in your mind, over and over, like you, or it, is somehow pinned on a ‘Dart’. Whatever the situation, is there progress being made or is this a situation of capture, sacrifice and death? Is something being postponed because of an inability to move? What sacrifices are being asked? Is sacrifice really necessary or, is someone being used as a martyr, tied to a situation or an ideal? Are judgments being made on outer beauty rather than inner depth? What issues from the past pinning you down and stopping you from forward movement?

Keywords: Perfection and beauty made immortal. Holding onto things or events that no longer serve. Unchanging realities. Moments frozen in time. Superficiality. External beauty that’s lacking animation. Pinning things up so they can be admired. The “handiwork” of Creation on display. Transfiguration. Suspension in time. Posters.

The Caution: Impinging others’ growth for selfish needs. Surrender and immobilization. Pinned down and unable to move. The attempt to freeze things from growing naturally. Placing importance on preserving appearances at the expense of movement.

The Quest Symbol - the degree following - is Libra 3: The Dawn Of A New Day Reveals Everthing Changed.

‘The Dawn of a New Day Reveals Everything Changed’ pictures new beginnings that can be sudden and unexpected. It’s like a new awakening; something new is taking shape and form and emerging into a ‘New Day’ and this ‘Reveals Everything Changed’. What was happening or evident just recently, even just the ‘Day’ before, has ‘Changed’ through an event or some shift of the mind or heart. Things are ‘Changed’; things are ‘New’ - they are somehow different.

This ‘New Day’ may not have ‘Dawned’ yet, but it is definitely on its way. It may be hard to believe at first, but eventually it will ‘Dawn’ on you that many facets of your situation are different in the light of this ‘New Day’. Life may have been difficult, or things unsure, and you may feel like you’ve been through a long night, or a period of darkness. Perhaps someone has been too comfortable in their habits, or in their complacency, and has let things just go on and on. There may need to be major changes in attitude with the new situation or information before you, and sometimes these changes are hard to adjust to, especially if what’s happening hasn’t been your idea or your desired outcome. Take heart, realize that the darkness is abating, and gradually let go of what went before. Realize that it’s come time to let go of the old conditions and move on. This is an opportunity to “seize the day”; to see that there is light all around you. A change of scene can affect how you feel and how things appear. How does, or how will, this ‘New Day’ affect you? Only you can know. However, getting up and seeing the ‘Dawn’ can bring spiritual messages about the direction you are moving towards. It can infuse you with hope and energy for the future.

Keywords: New perspectives and realizations. Waking up with a whole new consciousness or sense of reality. Emerging from depression. Huge changes that erase things that mattered before. Radical shifts and changes. Major life experiences. Being reborn. Events out of nowhere. Changes of fortune. Revitalized perspectives.

The Caution: Holding on to the past despite all evidence and reason to move on. Refusing to believe that things are getting better. Waking up and not knowing where one is. Fickleness. Change for the sake of change. Sticking with the old.

Venus, the ruler of this Libran new Moon, is on Virgo 24: Mary And Her White Lamb. With Venus on this degree, there can be a sticking point if someone doesn't want to let go. Just as the 'Lamb' followed 'Mary' to school one day, we can find it a wrench to say goodbye to someone or some things. Realisations around co-dependent relationships may come up and some will want to choose freedom while others may want to hold on. Whatever side of the coin you find yourself on, treating people, pets and situations with love and care is always, of course, the best option.

Keywords: Simple childlike innocence or pure escapism. Naivety. The Mary and Jesus story. Dependence. Kindness. Friendship. Bonds between pets and owners. Believing in the essential goodness of others. Hanging out with people. Looking out for someone. Cuteness. The urge to prove something. Dislike of dirt or grime. Being ‘addicted’ to someone or something.

The Caution: Naiveté. Avoiding real issues. Stalking. Over-protection. Doubting motives. Paranoia that someone is following you. Feeling lost without the other. Doe-eyed attraction. Clinging to people. Arousing jealousy through favoritism. Not leaving people alone. Checking people’s whereabouts. Not growing up. Being the black sheep.

Change is such hard work. Billy Crystal

The Quest Symbol of Venus is Virgo 25: A Flag At Half Mast In Front Of A Public Building. This will be the degree of Venus the day following the new Moon. This can bring about a change of allegiance or a desire to bring certain things to a close. Something is passing and taking a moment out to say goodbye, to mourn or to rejoice around things that are no longer pertinent can lead to new realisations around what flag you want to be waving along with what it really means to you.

Keywords: Public tribute and recognition. Political affairs. The desire to leave a legacy to society. Having the power or ability to sway the masses or authorities. Signs for all to see. Destinies fulfilled. Coming together as a community or nation to share loss. Judgment on one’s life. Appraisal of deeds and character. Public holidays. Obituaries. Taking the time to grieve.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Scotland with all this going on.

The Caution: Feeling an obligation to carry on without taking time to sort out issues from the past or mourn any loss. Devastation and mourning. Having a burning desire to leave behind something no matter what the cost to self or others.

Mercury is on Libra 28: A Man Alone In Deep Gloom. Unnoticed, Angels Are Coming To His Aid. Help can arrive in many different shapes and forms and it's by believing that help will arrive that it often does. It can come right when we ask for it, or, when we least expect it.

Keywords: Feelings of not being alone. Awareness of spiritual help in times of need. Salvation versus depression. Feeling like one’s luck is about to change. Improvements in the pipeline. Changes in the “weather”. Helpers arriving just when they’re needed. Brightening influences. Angels and spiritual forces for good.

The Caution: Unrealistic reliance on spiritual agencies or help from others. Feeling like no one cares or that no one is listening. Being alone and forgotten. Losing faith in things getting better. Refusing help. Misery and gloom and doom.

Mars is on Sagittarius 8: Deep Within The Depths Of The Earth, New Elements Are Being Formed. Mars is showing how things are likely to be percolating deep within you, even if some things are taking time to show on the surface. Mars is squaring Neptune and the feeling of being a little lost can be rather overwhelming. This too will pass.

Keywords: Deep elemental processes and change. Shifting of conservative values. Mining in its many forms. Crystal healings. Minerals, mining, colloidal minerals. Organic changes and shifts. Volcanoes and earthquakes. Earth rumblings. Reaching maturity. Earth, wind, fire and water. Mud and steam. Alchemical shifts.

The Caution: Moving forward while elements are still forming. Denying inner processes as unimportant. Not showing any change on the surface. Clinging stubbornly to old and outworn ways. Being afraid of change, particularly that which can’t be seen. Unhealthy growths. Tumors.

The Karmic Condition of Mars (the degree before) is Sagittarius 7: Cupid Knocking At The Door Of A Human Heart. Mars will be on this degree for a day or two before the new Moon, indicating that one of the best things that we can do in the lead up to this new adventure is to open our heart - to allow more and more love in. There could be a need to let go of things that are taking up unnecessary space in your heart, to free you up for more heart-warming possibilities and rewards.

Keywords: Respectful invitation of love. Seeing purity of motive. Fear of commitment. Fear of romance. A key or an arrow. Cupids and cherubs. Unlocking the heart. One-pointed, focused energy, which can become obsessive. Softening one’s boundaries. Cupid’s bow. The need to lighten up one’s approach to others.

The Caution: Waiting instead of taking the initiative. Rejecting love or emotion for fear of losing independence. Keeping up a strong, brave, severe face when one could be loosening up and enjoying another. Barriers and defenses around the heart. Seeing potential lovers in everyone. Being attracted to those you wouldn’t normally notice.

Jupiter is on Leo 15: A Street Pageant Moving Along A Street Packed With People. Finding those we can associate with, mix with and enjoy times with can be very rewarding. Fun can be had if we enjoy the pulse of the people around us. This Symbol can also show people taking to the streets in order to protest, create change or gather in a common cause.

Keywords: Demonstrations of joy. Spectacular shows of solidarity. Ticker-tape parades. Community celebrations of victory or faith. Food and drink stalls. Mardi gras and gay pride parades. Being a participant or an observer. Having a following. Gaiety and spectacle. Performers, musicians, magicians. Street stalls. Traffic management. The mob. Barriers.

The Caution: Displays of egocentric achievements. Blowing one’s trumpet. Closing off some areas of life, overplaying others. Problems with neighbors or people. Displays with little warmth or genuine communal feelings. Feeling like sardines in a can. Noisy neighborhoods. Loud music that annoys. Disruptive behavior. Hooligans and louts. Looting. Lack of privacy and quiet. Garbage on the street.

Saturn is on Scorpio 20: A Woman Drawing Aside Two Dark Curtains That Closed The Entrance To A Sacred Pathway. There can sometimes be a bit of a pause that needs to be assimilated before we can head off down new pathways. Things that have felt closed may need to feel open to you now. Even if you have to literally draw back the curtains or the blinds in order to let more light in so you can see your path forward. Where is it that you want to go? What path are you ready to venture down?

Keywords: Mysteries revealed, sometimes after a long wait. Feminine mysteries laid out before you. Woman’s reproductive organs. The mysteries of the Goddesses. Getting past things that are cloaked or shielded from entry or view. Sexual mysteries. Open Sesame. Clairvoyant readings that reveal the ‘Path’. Invitations to the unknown. Drawing aside inhibitions. Following through on things.

The Caution: Being seduced into dark and sinister things or being led astray. Not being shown the true picture or the truth. Frigidity and closing off sexual responses. Being, or feeling, shut out. Dark rooms with little sign of life.

Uranus is on Aries 16: Brightly Clad Brownies Dancing In The Warm Dying Light. Brownies are nature spirits that turn up when we need help. I have seen this Symbol turn up many times when someone, including me, has been in need of help, assistance, relief, etc... it is yet another Sabian Symbol that is showing up on this new Moon to assure us that help can be there if we just believe in the possibility of 'help' arriving.

Keywords: Reveling in nature. Believing in guides. Fairies and nature spirits. The wonder and awe of nature. The setting sun. Last minute preparations before evening. The psychic magic of dusk. Light that dances. Unseen guardians. Receiving guidance and help. Seeing the invisible. Help at the last minute. Fairy godmothers. Questions of: what is the “real” world?

The Caution: Self-delusions. Missing the true picture of what’s happening in the “real-world”. Losing the plot. Relying on others, including angels, nature spirits, etc., instead of yourself. Neglecting responsibilities. Crying wolf. Using people.

Neptune is on Pisces 6: A Parade Of Army Officers In Full Dress. There are many ways we can turn up ready to 'serve'. Are you suited up in the uniforms you want to be wearing, or, have you put on the uniform that society insists you wear in order to be accepted? or to feel worthy of fitting in? There is a lot of talk of war going on - this can be very disabling, especially with Neptune cloaking the true story, the true reality of what is really happening, in so many ways.

Keywords: National pride on display. Reminders of those putting life and limb on the line for kin and country. Uniforms, hats. People seeking recognition from the community, regardless of what they have personally achieved. Patriotism. Memories of war. Being committed to service. Medals. Stripes. Uniformity. Grinning and bearing it. Projecting the “right image”. Drills and routines. Displays of courage. Assembling together. Braiding and piping. Spit and polish. Parades and marching. Police and law enforcement. Guns and bayonets. The importance of looking good.

The Caution: “Stiff” and unfeeling displays. Having special privileges that other’s don’t. Doing what one must do. Hiding behind a façade. Not being prepared, or able, to show one’s true self. Drills and boring routines. “Drill sergeants” who scream and shout. People parading their importance. False courage. Taking the glory away from the little people.

Pluto is on Capricorn 11: Pheasants Display Their Beautiful Colors On A Private Estate. Pluto has just moved from being retrograde to going direct again. Pluto stationary tends to bring up feelings and events that need resolution and the energies can be fairly intense or meaningful. Here, there can be a feeling of the need to be in charge of your own domain, to have a comfortable, secure place to land. Issues to do with having room to move, along with having the money one needs in order to live the life one wants, or needs, to live can come up. The haves versus the have nots can bring up realities that are not always comfortable to face. Loving the place you inhabit can help you to feel grounded, welcomed and appreciated for the space you have created.

Keywords: Glorious houses and estates. Lawns and gardens. Statues and birdbaths. Peacocks, pheasants, swans, etc. Enjoying the riches the environment offers. Large plots of land. Nature reserves. Game birds. Aristocracy and the ruling elite. Beauty, elegance and grace. Fabulous displays of color. Parks.

The Caution: Foolish disregard of pending danger. Feeling that one has to be “on parade” or else they will be overlooked. Issues of standing out from the crowd. Jealousy and envy through things on display. Luxury and beauty or snobbery that excludes. Showing off. “Do not enter” signs.

Chiron is on Pisces 15: An Officer Is Drilling His Men In A Simulated Attack. I like to point out that Chiron represents The Wounded Stories We Tell Ourselves. With Chiron here, we can go over and over and over things until they either minimise or overtake our belief in ourselves or our situations, or, we can get het-up on the 'what might happen' and the 'sky is falling' scenarios. There is so much talk of war in the air that we can feel rather nervous about what is going to unfold. Here, we can see the need to let go of the stories that hold us in a state of worry and fear. If all those things we worried about happened, it would probably be a very difficult place for us to inhabit. Instead of what you can't do, Chiron here is asking what you can do. Instead of all the things that may fail, it's good to focus on being ready for all the good things that are likely to come about.

Keywords: Taking orders to better respond to situations. The higher self training the lower self. Exercises. Marching and going through the motions. The need for defense. Seeing ahead. Planning strategies. Fire drills. Smoke alarms. Being prepared. Issuing orders and expecting them to be followed through. Discipline. Martial arts of all kinds. Going over and over possible outcomes. Safeguards put in place. Gas masks and bomb shelters.

The Caution: Rigid routine for no real or valuable purpose. Feeling that one has always to be on the defensive. Being under attack, whether real or imagined. Overreacting to things. Feelings of unworthiness in the face of battle or confrontation. Victim consciousness. Fearful responses. Getting others to respond through spreading fear. Scare tactics.

The Moon's north node is on Libra 20: A Jewish Rabbi In A Tiny Room Full Of Manuscripts And Books, Performing His Duty. Learning and studying and understanding and appreciating the rituals of society lead us to a fuller position in the scheme of things. Some rituals or habits are very fulfilling and rewarding in our lives while others are not so. Knowing where to draw the line on what gives meaning to your life and what things add rigidity and frustration can lead to a sense of freedom and joy and reverence.

Keywords: Connection with ancient sources of truth and understanding. Faith in abiding laws. Inherited wisdom. Ancient books. Fundamentalism. Rituals, social and otherwise. Initiation ceremonies. Book work. Studying and worshipping. Doing deeds on behalf of the community. Religious services. Writings that reveal rules for living. Lawyers. Advocates. Hidden knowledge.

The Caution: Religious dogmatism. Following the rules of “the book”. Sticking to what convention says must be done. Losing one’s sense of individuality. Over-inflated sense of self. Distrust or hate of people from different religions, backgrounds or ethnic origins. Restrictive rules.

This is, I think, the longest newsletter I've ever written. If it helps us to see the magic inherent in this new Moon, then it was worth it :)
