We’re all looking for something. Be it a better life, a better relationship, an enriching career, a spiritual purpose, happiness, less pain, fulfilment or contentment (to name but a few). We’re all looking for something, seeking out maybes, searching for hope.
When we are born, the stories of our lives are, on the whole, unwritten and undefined. Letters dance around, slowly forming words, and then sentences. As we grow and evolve, the sentences grow and merge, forming storylines and beliefs.
There have been times of my life when I've felt as though I've been moving backwards when everyone - and everything - else has been moving forwards. Occasionally I've been lucky enough to stop to reassess myself and my life, but the world has continued to shift in ways that have felt counter-intuitive to me.
Undoubtedly many of us have grown world-weary over the last year as we’ve seen so much negativity all around, and it’s started to creep within like ivy insidiously creeping over a building. For the more sensitive amongst us, this somewhat tenuous negativity has reached deeply into our hearts and souls...
As the pace of change continues to ebb and flow, and twist and turn, there is a sense that we are finding it harder to know where one chapter of change ends and when the next one begins. It’s as though we are in a big blur of shift, and it’s indefinable and without shape or definition.
If we step back to look at the bigger picture of our lives, we may be lucky enough to see some common threads weaving their way through the space and time that makes us individuals, but these often get lost in the mêlée and chaos of the ebbing and flowing tides.
Life can be unquestionably hard at times as we try to navigate the twists, turns, dead-ends, nooks, crannies, hills and valleys. We never know what’s around the next corner and although we may try to be as prepared as possible we can never truly know what’s coming as life is unexpected and unpredictable.
