Can We All Be Right?

My dear friends...

As the situation in Ukraine continues to threaten the stability of what fragile peace we experience in some of this world (clearly, not in all of it), the members of our species chance upon the question once again: What will it take for us to stop behaving like this?

The first thing we must all do is abandon our idea that there is such a thing as Right and Wrong. So long as we imagine that “right” and “wrong” exist, we will be equally imaginative in declaring that we are in the “right”, and they (whoever “they” may be) are in the “wrong.”

This is a certain recipe for disaster. The truth is that --- as Conversations with God told us very clearly --- nobody does anything inappropriate, given their model of the world. This means that everybody is right, from their point of view. The newly installed government in Kiev is right.

The newly installed parliament in Crimea is right. The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is right. The President of the United States, Barack Obama, is right.  The last duly elected president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, who fled the country on in mid-February and who was voted out of office by the Ukrainian Parliament on Feb. 22, is right. The acting president of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, is right. Everybody is right, from their point of view.

We must now ask ourselves a question. It is the same question that we are invited to ask ourselves in our own homes, in our own families, in our own states and nations and political parties and religions: Can we find a way to be Right without hurting each other?

I want to place question before the house this week. Think about it deeply, earnestly. Can we all be right, without hurting each other? This is not a political question, this is a spiritual question.

What is needed now in our world is a Civil Rights Movement for the Soul. Let us see if we can create one. Join me here next week for more.

Love, and all peaceful thoughts….
