You are capable of true greatness

You are capable of true greatness.  This is not a question, a wish or a hope.  This is a simple fact.  You are capable of true greatness.

True greatness is not something you hold up to a standard you or society have set and ask over and over, “Is this it?”  True greatness is a flame inside, a truth that is you.  And as you go through life, this truth can become buried.  You may need to unravel the consequences of some past actions to clear a space for it.  Or you may need to balance the time and effort required to carry your burdens with the time and effort required to excavate your shining wonder.

But it is there.  It is real.  It is true and it shines.

Do not think that your financial status one way or the other is an indication of whether you have tapped into your greatness.  You can think of many examples where people have been very successful financially but not reached into greatness, and you can think of many examples of the opposite, where people have tapped into something real and true, their original spark and shine, yet not received recognition or financial reward in this lifetime.

You wish that you could tap into your own deeply original and true creative self while at the same time bask in the praise and recognition of a grateful society.  You can think of a few instances where this seems to be true, at least from an outsider’s vantage point, but you must also see that the love of society comes and goes, that there are only brief flashes of time where the truth of the individual creator is in absolute congruence with the movable trends and fashions of society.  What you may be overly focused upon is that brief moment that each person has, not realizing that in their own lifetime, each of these people, each celebrity and star in whatever field you choose, has ups and downs, challenges, issues and struggles, times they labor in obscurity with no reward or recognition, times when they stand in a light so strong that it blinds them to their truth, and only brief moments when it all works.

Do not confuse the spotlight of society with the light of truth and greatness.  Decide how you want to live.  Decide what is important and what you are willing to give up here and there on either side of the equation.  And let your life swing through the changes and evolution that are part of any vital life lived, making one choice now, a choice that works well for a while, and then another choice tomorrow.

This is normal.  This is life, the vital and energized growth of a creative person, who veers from the primary river to follow a little tributary, sometimes to find that it rejoins the river later, sometimes to watchit go underground or dry up completely, leaving you to walk across the barren stretches and find a new source of inspiration.  All of this is life.

And sometimes you may follow a stream that meanders off into a forest, a place where no one else cares to join you, a place where only you can see the sparkling water, where only your deep knowing can guide you through the dark and forbidding trees, to emerge finally from this deep forest and find yourself at the seashore, with the entire ocean sparkling before you, the truth washing upon you like waves, the answers shining and sparkling like the sun across the rippling and moving surface of your creative and wondrous life.

And even here, where your truth is so clear and the answers known at such a deep level, this may be a seashore you inhabit alone or with only a few people.  It may be that the sunshine of faith and truth is far stronger than any lights from the cities of man, far away across the mountains you have crossed.

And the choice of whether to stay on this seashore or return to that city is yours and yours alone.  And neither choice is right or wrong.  It is all vital and exciting and your life.  You may even choose to spend part of your time, your day, your month, your year, in the city selling your wares and part of your time on your solitary seashore.  All of these are choices that you make, not right, not wrong, just choices individual and yours.

You have the greatness within you.  You are the greatness, shining out right now as you read these words.  The spark is there within you, shining out even now.  And everything is exactly as it needs to be in this moment.  Here, deep within this moment, all of the possibilities open to you and surround you.

You do not need to make a big decision right now.  You need only open yourself to that little drop of water, that little spark of light and take one small step toward your true creative self.  That is all this moment asks of you.

Here is a little prayer for today

I believe that I have greatness within me.  I feel it as an essential part of myself, my personal gift, my true spark, deep within me.

I reach down into my center and see my spark.  I reach up and feel the unending love of the universe flowing down upon me, embracing me and encouraging me to live my truth.

I love myself and all that I am.  I love myself exactly as I am in this moment.  I love all of the possibilities I represent, all of the wonder that is in my spark, yet to be seen and explored.  All of it is me.  All of it is good.

I am love.  I am light and power expanding.  I am.
