How To Make Nothing From Something (Yes You Did Read That Right!)

Hello dear readers,

As a big music fan, I often find inspiration in lyrics. Today this one in particular from Tom Petty and his song, “Stop dragging my heart around,” jumped out at me with particular significance, “This doesn’t have to be the big get-even, this doesn’t have to be anything at all.” Food for thought, and we will explore this a bit further in this post.

Billy Preston – Nothing from nothing (Oh that’s a fun one!)

Sigh. It’s 2012 and you know what that means. As I like to say, “we’re in it to win it,” as a way to keep things positive. For so many it’s been a very challenging year. So many of us have been stripped bare it would seem. We’ve lost relationships, jobs, loved ones, pets and other beloved things to us. Yes this is all making room for new energies, people and opportunities to appear that’s true, but it does bring with it a certain vulnerability too.

I know all about being fearful and worried. I’ve been there. I have watched the machinations of my own mind grasp, cling and reason, attempting to “figure things out.” I’ve watched it make something from nothing and nothing from something. I also know the freedom and peace that comes when I stopped doing that. It’s a real matter of trust to believe that what we need to know will come to us in due time. In my work with the Akashic Wisdom Keepers over the years information has come in on a “need to know” basis, and that often means questions born out of idle curiosity or worry have not been answered. At least not in the timing that I would prefer!

Many of us have had so many shocking, weird and unexplained things happen to us that’s it almost beginning to feel like Old Hat. I call these bumps and shocks of late, “Cosmic Whiplash.” I also know that things are moving so fast that just when we get our hand or mind around something it may slip away again. On a certain level it seems harsh and even cruel, but from a higher consciousness level it makes perfect sense. It’s all training in mindfulness and impermanence, and the Universe is making sure that we get it.

“If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will have complete peace.” – Ajahn Chah

So the next time we find ourselves fighting with the moment, grasping to figure it all out, take a breath. Let’s do this together, “ahh!” We can trust in the knowledge that the Universe/Source Energy is fully intelligent and loves us unconditionally. We often do not realize this awareness when we are wrestling with the moment and how things appear to be. We can choose to take whatever is happening and turn it into *nothing* not to negate it, but to sit with the essential knowledge that whatever it is, it is ultimately empty and is given meaning by us and our perceptions. It is a clear mind that sees things as they truly are. When we are in fear, worry and grasping we have temporarily sullied the lens of our seeing. Fortunately for us we can use awareness and the breath to bring us back to the NOW moment and reality.

Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the universe comes, to which everything in the universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home. – Tibetan Book of the Dead
