Neptune in Pisces: Magic, Dreaming and Waking up

Ah, Neptune! What a mysterious planet you are and you have fascinated me for much of my adult life. I have a very strong Neptune influence in my own birth chart as it is in the first house conjunct my ascendant in Scorpio. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that means dear readers! After reading this post, I feel you will pretty much get the drift. We all have the planet Neptune in our birth chart as it is an outer/generational type planet. For people born around 1956 – 1970 we have our Neptune in Scorpio which gives us distinctive occult-like feel to this aspect of our chart.

The planet Neptune will be in the sign of Pisces from February 3, 2012 to 2025. Neptune takes about 164 years to make a complete cycle, spending about thirteen years in each sign. Neptune is considered the modern day ruler of the planet Pisces so it will have truly come home after its long journey around the Zodiac. Neptune is the planet symbolically associated with delusion, illusion, glamour, spirituality, psychic ability, sacrificial love, deception, dreams, intuition, invention, magic, perception, arts, music, psychology, consciousness, philosophy, esotericism, occult, imagination, mysticism, emotion, transcendence, subjectivity, shadow side of life, scandal, addiction, sensationalism, paranoia, mass media, drugs, alcohol, deceit and indulgence. It is the planet of fog, mist, water, oil and the seas. It rules photography and cinema – both forms of illusion.

Neptune rules Pisces, therefore retains all the qualities and characteristics of that sign. Pisceans are very concerned about the problems of the world; they feel that it is a personal duty to make the universe a better place. On the positive side, Pisceans are imaginative, sensitive, compassionate, kind, selfless, unworldly, intuitive and sympathetic. On the negative side, they are escapist, idealistic, secretive, vague, weak-willed and easily led.

Neptune governs hospitals, prisons, mental institutions, military and any place, such as a monastery, that involves a retreat from society. Its appearance coincided with the discovery of anesthetics and hypnotism. Neptune is also related to viruses, epidemics and bacteriology. Neptune in Pisces also represents nature in its raw form, before human intervention, and includes the wild — the jungles and natural resources — as well as natural events. ~ Redice Astrology

On a personal level, a strong Neptune influence can create the classic “identity crisis.” For children and young adults that lack sufficient adult role models or attention, they may be forced to fall back onto their own devices and retreat into a deep fantasy world of the own creation. I was definitely one of those kids. I am fortunate that I was always attracted to spiritual figures and teachers who I felt possessed wisdom. It also propelled me to seek my true Divine/Cosmic parents since my own home life was seriously lacking. On the negative side, I fell for some pretty unsavory “gurus” in my 20?s as my seeking nature and overall identify issues made me an easy target for them.  For Neptunian types that perhaps have self-esteem issues and don’t have a strong center, they may fall into the “Who do you WANT me to be?” game with others. This can definitely be an easy trap to fall into. For me the way out was a solid spiritual practice which included many years of meditation and also spiritual counseling which helped me heal the wounds of my childhood and learn that it was “safe” to finally be myself (after I found her, I might add!)

Carrying strong Pisces or Neptunian energy can be a hard cross to bear, so to speak. In a world filled with problems and an “ocean of suffering” as our Buddhist friends say, it can all become overwhelming at times, and that’s where the desire to escape may come in. We all need little healthy escapes to keep our life balanced. For me, I find it through time with friends, music, chocolate ( in moderation!) comedy and time near the ocean.

So looking at this Neptune placement on a more Universal level, this is what we come up with: Neptune rules the dreamworld, and it also rules MAGIC. One form of magic is transmutation which takes something and changes it into another form, as a type of divine alchemy. With the environmental issues happening on the planet right now we can all agree that some transmutation is required. Many of the Adult Indigo folks and Crystal children are coming in with advanced knowledge in this area. It just needs to be implemented without interference from those that are frightened and still clinging to the old dying forms and ways of being. I have always found Pisces folks and Neptunian energy very magical. It is our divine connection to who we REALLY are; not the outer forms, our “space suit” or who mommy, daddy or others want us to be. It is the domain of the Soul, or the Self as our Eastern Yogic philosophers call it. We may find that we receive more intuitive information on a general level and for many this may come in either waking or sleeping dream states.

Lost feelings return, so now maybe I can learn.  To stop the world of a lie, this time around. Are we ourselves and do we really know?  Because seen through these eyes, we lead a double life, No one would know; so checking out, stepping out, here I go. ~ The Fixx

The worst part of this placement of Neptune (Pisces) is becoming enslaved by the belief in your own jailer, the most powerful of which is fear. We must watch out for believing in fear, addiction, weakness, sickness, toxicity, betrayal or any other debilitating feeling as a justification for our own imprisonment. The jailers count on the cooperation of the incarcerated for the whole plan to work. It’s a great time to break free from whatever enslaves us. Neptune moving from an air sign into a water sign will make a big difference in the way we perceive information, psychic breakthroughs and renewed interest in our multi-dimensional senses will start to rival our obsession with technology. Hypnosis, astral travel, sleep therapy, dream manipulation, consciousness altering of all kinds will be in vogue.  The Ocean will take on tremendous new importance, hopefully because we decide to really protect and heal it. –

In my own opinion I feel it will be very important to continue to discern and question channeled material and energies. Neptune also rules the astral realms and there are many levels of energy and awareness there. As we continue to grow and evolve into 4-5D and beyond, we must keep our bodily and psychic channels as clear as possible to receive the most wholesome and beneficial guidance and information. Just like the our own Mother Ocean not all creatures there are friendly, and there are even some that in certain circumstances could do us harm. Discernment and awareness will continue to be very important tools for us as we navigate through these strong psychic waters.

Albert Einstein, a famous Pisces said, “As the circle of light increases, so does the circumference of darkness around it.” It’s up to US to stay on the path of Light and Wisdom in these times, and leave our illusions behind, with FEAR being the biggie. Our future depends on it.

Wishing you all love, light and abundance in these magical times.
