Monthly Astrological Overview: March 2013

Cry Freedom!

During the month of March the cosmos wants to bring us face to face with reality. There’s no more time, it tells us, for pussy-footing around or tip-toeing about the edges. We need to be prepared to dive in and swim in the waters of our world with a willingness to be completely immersed in all that we are and all that our life is and could be.

There’s a feeling of passion here, of longing for the truth without any sweeteners or mixers! Just us and our lives in the raw. Until we can do this, the heavens remind us, we cannot draw upon the supply of energy available within us, because it’s already used up making sure we don’t have to view the way things are and see only the way we want to believe them to be.

Throughout this month Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron and Pluto encourage us to greater and deeper awareness of our inner world, and specifically how we manage it in order to present a certain face to the external one. How much of ourselves do we edit out, they ask us? How much of who we are doesn’t fit with how we want others to see us? What are the techniques we use to deflect our awareness from the shadows of our psyche? Defensiveness, justification, denial, projection… these are all common mechanism that we may use to avoid the horror of that moment when we look at ourselves in the mirror and realise we’re not quite the harmless, honest, open, heart-centred individual that we’d like to believe we are!

That there may just be a few things going on beneath the surface there, feelings we dare not own up to, frustrations that keep us awake at night, secrets about which we’d be mortified if others were to find out…. And then there are all those things we can’t see even when we look for them, which can only begin to make themselves known to us when we’re prepared to embrace the aspects of ourselves that we’ve more willingly cast into the shadows. The human psyche reveals itself as quite the labyrinth once we begin to look within and see what’s really going on in there!

It is this looking within to which the heavens point us throughout this month, not in a self-indulgent or punitive way, but in such a way as to stay alert to the constellation of feelings, thoughts, impulses and desires that we more readily keep on the edges of our consciousness. We’re urged to do this now, not so we can all end up feeling thoroughly dreadful and forsaken, but because we need to recognise that our fear of these aspects of our psyche is more of a problem than the thoughts and feelings themselves. THAT is the lesson this month.

Until we can ‘own up’ to who and what we really are, we’re forever bound in fear and bound to those people who we fear will judge us if they find out the truth! Essentially, Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron and Pluto are reminding us now not to mistake the messages of fear for the truth. Fear will tell us this anger inside us must never be let out because it could destroy everything. Fear will tell us that if everyone knew what we really think they would reject us. Fear will tell us if people could see the truth of how we live our lives when they’re not watching, they would see right through us into a dark and shameful core. And most importantly, fear will tell us that no one else is like this. No one else has these feelings or thoughts. It’s only me. It’s something wrong with me and I need to hide it.

But NO MORE!! We don’t have to hide anything anymore. We can own up. We need to own up, because if we don’t, whatever’s left in the shadows will continue to fester and drain our energy away like a leak we can never find. This month of March 2013 is a time to create the space, between us and within us, to be who we are, to share our fears and dark corners to which we don’t care to admit, in order for us to look around and realise that we’re all in the same boat here, and it’s all part of being human…

Against this backdrop the heavens ensure there’s a plentiful supply of gentleness and compassion with six planets in Pisces at the beginning of the month, and seven once the Moon enters the sign of the fishes on 10th and is New there on 11th. Of course, there’s always a risk with all that Piscean energy, that we could just get lost in self-pity instead of using it to expand our heart to encompass more of what and who we are, but if we make a commitment to authenticity this month, we can‘t go too far wrong with the cosmos there to support us every step of the way.

As the month progresses we move from watery Piscean to fiery Arian energy as the planets begin to shift their focus onto the first sign of the zodiac, with Mars and the Moon leading the way into Aries on 12th, followed by the Sun on 20th and Venus on 22nd. Here we see the increase in energy that occurs when we let go of shame and fear, embracing the life-force as it is, pulsing through our veins with a lust for existence.

The final week of March, from 24th onward, sees some significant opportunities for deep insight into our true nature and the twists and turns we often take which place distance between it and ourselves. Of course, in fact there is no distance. Our true nature is here, every minute, in the same space that we are, just waiting for us to recognise its presence.

And recognising its presence, which is, of course, our presence, is on the cards for this week. So the more we can be open to the moment without adding layer upon layer of our own internal dialogue and commentary about ourselves, our lives and the world around us, the more we can allow life as it is to engulf us with its passion and peace, movement and stillness, joy and sorrow, until everything becomes exactly perfect for us in each moment, no matter what that moment may bring.

As I look at the heavens for these final few days of March, the work of Byron Katie comes to mind. She speaks of loving what is, no matter what. This, she teaches, is the way of peace. The only cause of strife is resistance to what is, and in releasing that resistance we allow life to be what it must be and we can step into its flow as dynamic and awake particles of energy, no longer seeking for life to serve us but for us to serve life. And in this way action flows through us as part of something greater. Everything that needs to be done gets done, and nothing unnecessary occurs.

With the Moon Full in Libra on 27th March, we can bask in the light of all that has occurred this month, of all that we’ve embraced within ourselves and all that has been released as a result. We are as we are. Resistance is futile! It’s time to wake up and recognise ourselves and each other, maybe for the first time, and to do so with reverence and humility, acceptance and a big dose of good humour. We are all completely perfect and all beautifully flawed. What freedom lies in the recognition of these truths!

Thank you, as always, for taking the time out to read my thoughts. Here’s wishing you, and all of us, a great month ahead….

Wow. I sure feel the fiery energy in this one. LOL. Kidding aside...Sarah, your openness, rawness, humility, vulnerability and willingness to share so much of yourself astounds me. I am in awe & you are someone I admire. If I can do 1/2 of what you did here, I will pat myself on the back. LOL. :2funny Much love to you! :smitten:

lol Betsy. I remember when I was writing this one I couldn't type fast enough to get the words out. There was certainly a lot of fire in there :)

Whew! I found it. LOL. I've been thinking about your response to my response since reading it yesterday & wanted to find it to reply again. I find it so fascinating. I assumed (you know what that means when you "assume" LOL?) that when astrologers did these things, they looked at the charts, looked up the planets, looked up degrees & other conditions, etc., it all being a very "researched" type of thing. It doesn't sound as if you do it that way. It sounds as if you channel the information? Anyway, I found it interesting. I never realized one could channel astrological info, but why not? LOL. Couldn't one channel anything allowed by the universe? I'm just beginning to do this "work," but plan to do it for the remainder of my days. I love it. I love the like-minded people as well that are like family. I'm truly blessed. I thank my lucky stars daily. Somehow, I stumbled upon this path, or the universe allowed me to meet people that helped me upon this path. Doesn't matter. The end result is the same. LOL. I'm here & I love it. Much love to you, Sarah!!! :smitten:

Hello Betsy! :) Well.. I guess I do both really. For example, for a monthly overview like this piece, I draw up charts for different times of day for every day of the month, so yes, plenty of chart reading going on. Then I track astrological activity through those charts from day to day which begins to reveal themes to me. Then I begin to write about those themes, which entails 'opening up' (for want of a better expression!) to the energies that I'm working with in the chart and to put them into words, of which you see the finish product here. So it's a two-pronged process really, which is why I love it so :)

How interesting. TY for explaining the process. The first thing that came to mind as to why you may enjoy it so (seeing as I'm not you I can only guess LOL) is that it allows you to use both sides of your brain? The left/right, the scientific/intuitive, masculine/feminine? (Which also would explain why your messages seem so whole & unified). I'm explaining that as clear as mud, but I do believe I get it on my end. LOL. Interesting. TY again for sharing. I can't say it's the exact same as how I receive information, which is the most beautiful part of all of this...we all have our own individual journeys opening our gifts in our way in our own time, each unique. Much love to you, Sarah! :smitten:

That's a very interesting observation Betsy. Thank you. I think you've hit the nail on the head there! :)
