As we approach Valentine’s Day (do not forget to memorialize this day if you are in a committed or important relationship!), I thought it might be helpful for us to look at this business of love as it is seen in the eyes of God, from what I have come to understand as a result of the Conversations with God dialogues.
It is not possible to look at our world today in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan and not contemplate the meaning of life (and death), the purpose of events (be there any at all), and the function and intention of God (if there even is a “God”).
As we move into the final two months of 2013 I am struck again by how fast the years of our lives go by. I am, to be honest, utterly amazed that within a week or two we’ll all be having to begin making preparations for the year-end holidays. I can’t imagine where this past year went...
Why is life turning out the way it is turning out? Why is love so often so hard to find, and then to keep? Why is goodness and kindness and compassion and even a smiling face sometimes so hard to find in our day-to-day experience?
You are so wonderful to come here to this publication, and to be reading it. Do you know why? Because your decision to read this material says that you are willing to change your life and change the world.
When I was in the midst of the worst period of my life, I asked myself over and over again, “Why is this happening to me?” I did not understand then what I understand now. My awareness had not expanded.I was feeling frustrated. I was feeling angry. I was feeling betrayed by life itself.
I said here last week that there are two ways to give something meaning: (1) we can pull the meaning from our Past, or (2) we can choose the meaning in our Present, as Highly Evolved Beings would do. Let's pick up our narrative from there... Lower animals do not create meaning, they simply remember it. A deer hears a twig snap in the forest and "decides" that it means danger. The deer doesn't wait around to see if he's right or not. The deer scampers. Because the deer remembers.
As I said here last week, there are many areas of life, many situations, in which you may choose to have the Holy Experience. What it takes to experience the fact one is already a Master is to make a commitment to having the Holy Experience every day. Indeed, all day every day, if it is possible. And it is. Beginning this week we will look into the various areas or aspects of our lives to see, one area at a time, how one may move into the Holy Experience, at will.
There are many areas of life, many situations, in which you may choose to have the Holy Experience. Now that may sound like a strange thing to say, so let's take a look at it. At first, it may seem strange to speak of the Holy Experience as something that you "choose to have." Most people think of things that are holy as things that are rare. Or at the very least, not controllable in the first person. That is, they do not see themselves as being at cause in the matter.
What is it like to be in the Holy Experience? In such an experience one is defenseless. There is no need to defend because the experience of attack is not possible, nor is the experience of damage. There is only what is happening, what is now going on, but it is labeled neither attack nor damage by The One, hence, there is no need for defense, judgment, or forgiveness.
