In myth, Eris is the goddess of discord and rivalry. On the face of it, the trouble she caused in response to not getting a wedding invitation sounds petty, but she knew something far more important was going on. In fact, her exclusion epitomises the experience of the feminine throughout history.
I think a great many of us will be relieved to see the end of 2017; it was a year of stormy extremes, both within and in the world around us. It was as though the very fabric of our being was being ripped up in order to be re-shaped and re-defined. There were times of profoundly difficult emotions, yet there were also moments of great joy as well
It’s easy to reach the end of a year realising we’ve failed to achieve the goals we set twelve months before. We may take a deep breath and then resolve, once again, that this year will be the year we finally make those dreams come true. Yet, maybe looking at goals in such a way is setting ourselves up for failure?
12/25 ~ Venus (values & priorities) ~conjunct~ Saturn (responsibility & structure): This is a powerful initiation when you can infuse your current reality with more beauty & true value, as well as anchor a renewed sense of Inner Authority.
December's new Moon in Sagittarius falls on December 18, and, it feels like a very special sign of the times as Saturn moves out of Sagittarius and heads into Capricorn, the new Moon occurs right before the Winter Solstice.
12/12 ~ Mercury (communication & self-expression) ~conjunct~ Sun (core essential Self): This energy will compel you to express yourself on many levels. Communication will be a focus, just make sure it is reciprocated. You will have access to some powerful energy that can (and probably will) make quite an impression on others (if you need to).
12/6 ~ Mercury (thought process) ~conjunct~ Saturn (definition of reality): This energy is excellent for any important project that requires your undivided attention. If you've got a vision and have already outlined how to manifest it, now is the time to really fill in the blanks - flesh it out - bring it to life!
December is a time to look back with warmth and tenderness, to celebrate the good things and to gently embrace the challenges with love rather than criticising and judging ourselves for not doing better.
Mercury stations retrograde in the final degree of Sagittarius, reminding us that sometimes it really is worth looking back before you leap. The importance of caution is further stressed by a conjunction to Saturn, as is the role of unbridled commitment to wisdom reflected in Black Moon Lilith’s presence alongside.
